I absolutely agree with Mr. Lee S.

I don't have a JSCP but I had a CCP (Certified Computer Profession) certificate. You basically master about 5 different computer languages to get this. However, now I am regretting that I've got this because this is nothing but a piece of paper that I almost paid about $400.00. Completely worthless in my point of view.

Therefore, I was kind of surprised when I saw so many Korean people are trying to get this certificate. In our shop, we have about 23 Java programmers and none of us really are thinking about getting a cretificate (In fact, many of don't even know that this kind of examination is avaiable)

It does not really prove anything even if you get one of these certificates. It is like even if you get an 'A' from college Java programming course, that does not mean that you can actually program in Java.

When I need to hire Java programmers, would I give preference to the programmers with JSCP certificates? I think NOT.

I am NOT discouraging people from getting this certificate but I seriously doubt that this will help you tremendously when you actually get down to Java programming at work.
